Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - June Week 3

Beast's "Fiction" repeats as No. 1 this week on our chart and continues to increase in score. This song has swept nearly all music charts in Korea in the past few weeks. It has actually widened the gap between its closest challengers, which are, as expected from FT Island's "Hello Hello" and Secret's "Starlight Moonlight". "Hello Hello" rises one spot to No. 2 despite dropping in points.

Secret's "Starlight Moonlight" is our highest ranked new song in the top 10 this week, up eight spots from last week's No. 11 to this week's No. 3.  The fast rising girl group has switched to a cute image this year with booming success on their five-week No. 1 song "Shy Boy".  "Starlight Moonlight" follows the same formula and is eyeing on the top spot.

The other two new entries in the top 10 are both brand new debuts. Members of SS501 are busy with their solo activities recently. Park Jung Min and Heo Young Saeng has already released their solo albums, and now it's Kim Hyun Joong's turn. The sneak preview song "Please" made a cameo appearance on our chart last week.  The true title song of the album "Break Down" is the highest debut song on our chart this week at No. 9. "Break Down" already won the top song in Music Bank's K-Chart this week. Expect this song to join the battle for No. 1 very soon.
Perhaps lost in the shadow of all idol groups on the chart, R&B trio 4men made a quiet yet impressive debut into the top 10 with their new song "One Time In Your Life".  Last year, this talented singing group had a breakthrough hit "Can't Do".  This is 4men's first full length album in five years in which fans has anticipated for a long time. Vibe's Yoon Min Soo continues to be their lead producer. All 13 tracks on the album is already ranked on many internet charts in Korea, proofing once again that good music wins listeners' heart.

THIS WEEK IN 2007:
In this segment we go back in time to re-visit charts of the same week in past years. The Soompi music chart began in January 2005. At first we had only 20 songs and later expanded to 50 songs.
2007 was the year that Wonder Girls and FT Island debuted.  It was also the year for singers coming back with success after very long layoffs.  Park Jin Young (JYP) and Toy (Yoo Hee Yeol) did that at the end of 2007.  Perhaps they were inspired by the success Yangpa had in the middle of that year. After a six-year absence, Yangpa came back in the middle of 2007 with her fifth album "The Window Of My Soul". Hitmaker Park Geun Tae teamed up with Yangpa to produce the title song "Love....What Is That?". Known for her emotional vocals, this song is tailor-made for Yangpa's voice. Soon after its releases, it became No. 1 song on our chart and stayed on top for three weeks.

Japanese Media Praise SHINee as the Beatles of Asia

 On June 21^st, various Japanese media covered the story of SHINee’s explosive popularity in Europe and their “JAPAN DEBUT PREMIUM RECEPTION” in London, England. The popular quintet performed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios on June 19^th to celebrate their Japanese debut.
Six Japanese newspapers – “Sports Hochi,” “Chunichi Sports,” “Sankei Sports,” “Sports Nippon,” “Sports Nikkan” and “Daily Sports” – commended the young Hallyu stars and reported SHINee’s tremendous influence and impact in Europe. “Sports Hochi” wrote, “No other music artists had this much influence since the Beatles.”
Very few European fans had the chance to see these boys up close at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where the likes of Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd performed. The opportunity to perform at such a legendary venue is one of SHINee’s greatest achievements, as they are the first Asian artists to perform there. During various interviews over the weekend, the boys of SHINee had stated, “We want to be remembered in history like the Beatles.”
“Chunichi Sports” headlined, “SHINee is Asia’s Beatles, First Asians to Perform Live at the Abbey Road Studios.” It mentioned SHINee’s immense popularity in London and praised their energetic dances and powerful music at the showcase.
Meanwhile, SHINee is busy preparing for their Japanese concerts. They will be touring various cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo. SHINee will also attend the “MTV MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS JAPAN” (VMAJ) this coming Friday, June 22^nd.

SHINee Shows Off Their "Replay" Dance Ver. MV

SHINee's dance version music video to their Japanese debut song "Replay" was posted online today.
After a long wait, their Japanese debut single will finally be released this week. The music video for the Japanese version was released late last month. 

While it has been three years since they debuted in Korea with the song, the choreography seems to have some minor changes.

Kim Hyun Joong's Advice to Nuna Fans

Kim Hyun Joong sent a special message to his older female fans during a guerilla interview on Saturday’s KBS “Entertainment Weekly.” He was asked to give a special message to his massive older female fan base, also known as “nuna fans” in Korea, and he responded, “A lot of nuna fans say they want to get married to me, but if they find the right person, I hope they get married soon.”

During the interview, Kim Hyun Joong touched upon a number of different topics. When asked about getting married, he said, “I wanted to get married before 30, but I realized it’s not going to happen any time soon. I thought I would be living as a grown-up, but the older I get I feel like I’m moving away from an adult life.”
He also said the most memorable female partner in his dramas so far was Han Chae Young from KBS “Boys Over Flowers.” But he gave her a rather cute video message saying, “If you’re watching this at home, please invest 500 won ($0.50) in buying my songs.”
Kim Hyun Joong also shared his experience working with Bae Yong Joon, the head of his agency Key East Management. “I think guys talk is pretty obvious. We usually talk about our past girl friends and stuff. I think it’s okay for me to still be single now, but Bae Yong Joong shouldn’t be. He needs to get married soon, and I would like to help him do so.”
Saturday’s guerilla interview took place at the popular Hongik University area. Kim Hyun Joong’s appearance nearly paralyzed the streets as thousands of fans rushed to the scene. It was later revealed the crowd was by far the largest size from this year’s guerilla interviews.

Kim Hyun Joong Was Kidnapped in Jeju Island?!

On tonight’s episode of “Strong Heart,” Kim Hyun Joong will reveal a personal story about how he was imprisoned while vacationing in the beautiful Jeju Islands. Kim Hyun Joong stated, “I went to Jeju Islands with a bunch of friends and got drunk. I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I was alone in a dark room with no windows. It suddenly came to me that I could have been kidnapped.”

His latest drama, “Playful Kiss,” is also receiving a lot of attention from its international fans. While the drama disappointed with low single digit ratings during its run in Korea, it’s currently receiving high exposure on YouTube. Its official YouTube channel (youtube.com/ytkiss) has racked up a whopping 20,175,602 total views of its videos. The channel appeals to viewers worldwide as it provides subtitles in English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, French, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, and Vietnamese.

Kim Hyun Joong Can Drink 4 Bottles of Soju

Kim Hyun Joong appeared on the June 17th episode of SBS Power FM’s “Park So Hyun’s Love Game” and admitted that he can drink up to 4 bottles of soju before becoming completely intoxicated. (In South Korea, the average male will drink roughly about 1~2 bottles of soju before becoming completely inebriated.)
DJ Park So Hyun asked Kim Hyun Joong, “What misconceptions exist about Kim Hyun Joong?”
Kim Hyun Joong answered, “Usually when I am drinking people assume that I drink wine or beer. However I don’t drink often but I can drink between three and a half to four bottles of Soju.”
He continued, “Idols are not allowed to talk about facial hair, first loves, alcohol, and smoking. However seeing that I talk about such things so comfortably, I am not an idol anymore.”

Jung Yong Hwa’s “Heartstrings'” Fans Wow Producers

With still two weeks until its official premiere, “Heartstrings,” starring CNBlue’s Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye, received much attention from fans domestically and internationally. Devoted fans created various posters, fan arts, and previews using their imaginations while eagerly waiting for June 29th. These artworks have impressed both the  production crew and fans with their sense of quality and dedication.
Hallyu stars Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye already have a huge fan base from their trendy drama “You’re Beautiful” in 2009 with actor Jang Geun Suk and FT Island’s Lee Hong Ki. The four were part of the fictional, yet highly popular boy band A.N. Jell. Many Shin Woo (Jung Yong Hwa) and Mi Nam’s (Park Shin Hye) avid fans were left feeling empty-handed as Mi Nam ended up with Hwang Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk).  “Heartstrings” comes as a sweet consolation to those fans as they will finally see the two actors “made for each other.” For approximately two months, these two young actors will light up the small screen with their perfect on-screen chemistry once again.
The drama is full of young and beautiful cast; and they also include Song Chang Ui, So Yi Hyun, Woori, and fellow CNBlue member Kang Min Hyuk. “Heartstrings” is Kang Min Hyuk’s second try in acting. He impressed viewers with his ability to act in last year’s “It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl” with actress Moon Chae Won of “Brilliant Legacy” (aka “Shining Inheritance”). In this upcoming drama, Kang Min Hyuk will play a member of Lee Shin’s (Jung Yong Hwa) band of pretty boy musicians, named the Stupid. During a recent interview, he stated, “I was able act more comfortably and naturally because my character and the context of the story are just like our CNBlue days.”
Melodrama “Heartstrings is about young love, friendships, and dreams. It’s a family friendly drama that can be enjoyed by viewers of any age. Additionally, it’s produced by hit maker Pyo Min So, the mastermind behind sensational dramas like “Full House,” (2004) starring Jung Ji Hoon (aka Rain) and Song Hye Gyo, “What Star Are You From,” (2006) starring Jung Ryeo Won and Kim Rae Won, and “The World They Live In (2008),” starring Hyun Bin and Song Hye Gyo. “Heartstrings” will premiere June 29th on MBC following “The Greatest Love.”

Shin Se Kyung’s company revealed,”both of them are friends at the moment”, “both of them have busy schedule and they can hardly meet, so they are only friends.”

After School reveals details on their Japanese debut single, “Bang!”

Earlier this month, Korean girl group After School announced their official Japanese debut, and the girls will debut with a Japanese version of their song, “Bang!“. Although, “Bang!” is a remake, the Japanese version will have a new arrangement and performance.
The single will come in three versions: limited edition A, limited edition B, and normal edition.
Limited Edition A will include the Japanese versions of “Bang!” and “Let’s Do It!“. The third track on the single will be the group’s first original Japanese song, which is yet to be determined. The DVD included will have the Japanese PV versions of both songs, as well as an introduction from the girls in Japanese. This edition will come in a slip case and with 1 of 10 random trading cards.
Limited Edition B contains the same contents as limited edition A, but the PVs on the DVD will be the Korean versions.
The normal edition is expected to come with six tracks, as opposed to the limited editions that will only contain three. This version will contain both Japanese and Korean versions of “Bang!”, their Japanese song, and instrumentals for all the tracks. The first press of this CD will come with 1 of 10 random trading cards.

(News) Pemain Dream High Akan Bereuni Untuk Konser Di Jepang!

Jepang sedang di mabuk cinta oleh drama KBS2TV ‘Dream High’ , dan itu menginspirasi pemain drama ini untuk datang bersama2 sekali lagi untuk konser di Jepang!
Sebelumnya disiarkan melalui jaringan DATV Jepang, tetapi karena mengumpulkan sebagai tanggapan positif dari pemirsa, jaringan memutuskan untuk menyiarkan kembali drama tersebut.
DATV dan Avex telah memutuskan untuk pendukung dalam konser Dream High di Saitama Super Arena pada tanggal 4 September. Acara ini akan melihatkan penampilan Bae Yong Joon, JY Park, dan pemain lainnya.
Seorang perwakilan menyatakan, “Ini adalah pertama kalinya dalam sekitar sembilan bulan Bae Yong Joon akan bertemu dengan para penggemarnya. Kami telah menerima pertanyaan tentang tiket konser,. Dan orang2 mengungkapkan minat yang tinggi tentang konser ini.”
