Halloween.....!!!! ^^
you know right in a few days from now there is Halloween Day...
Do You know the history??
Well, I Bet you know it.. However This is the History....
Enjoy....
To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter.
By 43 A.D., the Roman Empire had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.
On May 13, 609 A.D., Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome in honor of all Christian martyrs, and the Catholic feast of All Martyrs Day was established in the Western church. Pope Gregory III (731–741) later expanded the festival to include all saints as well as all martyrs, and moved the observance from May 13 to November 1. By the 9th century the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands, where it gradually blended with and supplanted the older Celtic rites. In 1000 A.D., the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It is widely believed today that the church was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. All Souls Day was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels and devils. The All Saints Day celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the traditional night of Samhain in the Celtic religion, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.
In the second half of the nineteenth century, America was flooded with new immigrants. These new immigrants, especially the millions of Irish fleeing Ireland's potato famine of 1846, helped to popularize the celebration of Halloween nationally. Taking from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became today's "trick-or-treat" tradition. Young women believed that on Halloween they could divine the name or appearance of their future husband by doing tricks with yarn, apple parings or mirrors.
In the late 1800s, there was a move in America to mold Halloween into a holiday more about community and neighborly get-togethers than about ghosts, pranks and witchcraft. At the turn of the century, Halloween parties for both children and adults became the most common way to celebrate the day. Parties focused on games, foods of the season and festive costumes. Parents were encouraged by newspapers and community leaders to take anything "frightening" or "grotesque" out of Halloween celebrations. Because of these efforts, Halloween lost most of its superstitious and religious overtones by the beginning of the twentieth century.
By the 1920s and 1930s, Halloween had become a secular, but community-centered holiday, with parades and town-wide parties as the featured entertainment. Despite the best efforts of many schools and communities, vandalism began to plague Halloween celebrations in many communities during this time. By the 1950s, town leaders had successfully limited vandalism and Halloween had evolved into a holiday directed mainly at the young. Due to the high numbers of young children during the fifties baby boom, parties moved from town civic centers into the classroom or home, where they could be more easily accommodated. Between 1920 and 1950, the centuries-old practice of trick-or-treating was also revived. Trick-or-treating was a relatively inexpensive way for an entire community to share the Halloween celebration. In theory, families could also prevent tricks being played on them by providing the neighborhood children with small treats. A new American tradition was born, and it has continued to grow. Today, Americans spend an estimated $6 billion annually on Halloween, making it the country's second largest commercial holiday.
The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots. Hundreds of years ago, winter was an uncertain and frightening time. Food supplies often ran low and, for the many people afraid of the dark, the short days of winter were full of constant worry. On Halloween, when it was believed that ghosts came back to the earthly world, people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they left their homes. To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. On Halloween, to keep ghosts away from their houses, people would place bowls of food outside their homes to appease the ghosts and prevent them from attempting to enter.
But what about the Halloween traditions and beliefs that today's trick-or-treaters have forgotten all about? Many of these obsolete rituals focused on the future instead of the past and the living instead of the dead. In particular, many had to do with helping young women identify their future husbands and reassuring them that they would someday—with luck, by next Halloween—be married. In 18th-century Ireland, a matchmaking cook might bury a ring in her mashed potatoes on Halloween night, hoping to bring true love to the diner who found it. In Scotland, fortune-tellers recommended that an eligible young woman name a hazelnut for each of her suitors and then toss the nuts into the fireplace. The nut that burned to ashes rather than popping or exploding, the story went, represented the girl's future husband. (In some versions of this legend, confusingly, the opposite was true: The nut that burned away symbolized a love that would not last.) Another tale had it that if a young woman ate a sugary concoction made out of walnuts, hazelnuts and nutmeg before bed on Halloween night she would dream about her future husband. Young women tossed apple-peels over their shoulders, hoping that the peels would fall on the floor in the shape of their future husbands' initials; tried to learn about their futures by peering at egg yolks floating in a bowl of water; and stood in front of mirrors in darkened rooms, holding candles and looking over their shoulders for their husbands' faces. Other rituals were more competitive. At some Halloween parties, the first guest to find a burr on a chestnut-hunt would be the first to marry; at others, the first successful apple-bobber would be the first down the aisle.
Do You know the history??
Well, I Bet you know it.. However This is the History....
Enjoy....
Ancient Origins of Halloween
Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.

Halloween Comes to America
Celebration of Halloween was extremely limited in colonial New England because of the rigid Protestant belief systems there. Halloween was much more common in Maryland and the southern colonies. As the beliefs and customs of different European ethnic groups as well as the American Indians meshed, a distinctly American version of Halloween began to emerge. The first celebrations included "play parties," public events held to celebrate the harvest, where neighbors would share stories of the dead, tell each other's fortunes, dance and sing. Colonial Halloween festivities also featured the telling of ghost stories and mischief-making of all kinds. By the middle of the nineteenth century, annual autumn festivities were common, but Halloween was not yet celebrated everywhere in the country. Today, Americans spend an estimated $6 billion annually on Halloween, making it the country's second largest commercial holiday.
Today's Halloween Traditions
The American Halloween tradition of "trick-or-treating" probably dates back to the early All Souls' Day parades in England. During the festivities, poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called "soul cakes" in return for their promise to pray for the family's dead relatives. The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. The practice, which was referred to as "going a-souling" was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighborhood and be given ale, food, and money. The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots. Hundreds of years ago, winter was an uncertain and frightening time. Food supplies often ran low and, for the many people afraid of the dark, the short days of winter were full of constant worry. On Halloween, to keep ghosts away from their houses, people would place bowls of food outside their homes to appease the ghosts and prevent them from attempting to enter.
Halloween Superstitions
Halloween has always been a holiday filled with mystery, magic and superstition. It began as a Celtic end-of-summer festival during which people felt especially close to deceased relatives and friends. For these friendly spirits, they set places at the dinner table, left treats on doorsteps and along the side of the road and lit candles to help loved ones find their way back to the spirit world. Today's Halloween ghosts are often depicted as more fearsome and malevolent, and our customs and superstitions are scarier too. We avoid crossing paths with black cats, afraid that they might bring us bad luck. This idea has its roots in the Middle Ages, when many people believed that witches avoided detection by turning themselves into cats. We try not to walk under ladders for the same reason. This superstition may have come from the ancient Egyptians, who believed that triangles were sacred; it also may have something to do with the fact that walking under a leaning ladder tends to be fairly unsafe. And around Halloween, especially, we try to avoid breaking mirrors, stepping on cracks in the road or spilling salt. What a beautiful couple of Love Rain, Jang Keun Suk and Yoona!
In Love Rain, Jang plays a double role of Seo In Ha, a good-looking student from art college in the 1970s; and Seo Jun, In Ha’s son and a photographer who lives today in 2012, enjoying a freewheeling lifestyle and love. Yoona is also expected to appear as a double role: Kim Yoon Hee, a pure, innocent campus queen in the 1970s; and Ha Na, Yoon Hee’s daughter and an adorable girl.
The first meeting is between Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, the couple of fresh charms in the 1970s. Seo In Ha wears a paint-stained apron, while Yoon Hee is set in a college campus full of refreshing green trees and grasses. The scenery featuring the couple is like a beautiful watercolor painting.
In particular, In Ha is not able to take his eyes off Yoon Hee when he hands over a book to her. The scene arouses curiosity on what will be in store for them.
Love Rain’s director Yoon Seok Ho says, “This drama series is designed to show how romantic and genuine the love of young people in the 1970s was. To better deliver the sentiment, all the staff as well as actors are putting a lot of effort. The innocent, lyrical images and sensitivities of Jang Keun Suk and Yoona surely contribute to the production of the pictures we’ve planned to deliver.”
The most anticipated drama series will air early next year.

Mama fan sharing 1: HyunJoong is really a little kid! Very playful! Like to tease fans! Past few days during the model competition venue, after HyunJoong go down from the stage he was very excited and played with fans; normally during TV station rehearsal, he is forever the first to reach the venue before any senior or junior singers! And arrived before 7am! Even earlier than fans! During the rehearsal, for fear of causing commotion, so during the process he would play with fans using his 4D style!
Mama fan account sharing 2: Everytime after TV program ended and while leaving, as long as he was waiting for the red traffic light, he would definitely wind down his window, and chat with fans, he would recognized those fans who looked more familiar to him, he would look and try to recognized them diligently. Shouted to him: Kim HyunJoong! Fighting! (In mandarin). He can’t understand mandarin, but would smile, nod and said thank you. Last time when he didn’t get No.1, korean fan told him: Sorry oppa, didn’t let you get No.1. HyunJoong answered calmly: It is alright.
Mama fan sharing 3: There’s once I told HyunJoong 5 times the same encouragement words, HyunJoong replied 3 times, he was trying very hard to listen, maybe was because mama fan’s korean pronunciation was not so accurate, but HyunJoong would try very hard to listen to your every sentence. As long as you talk to him, he would definitely listen and response to you diligently.
Mama fan sharing 4: HyunJoong himself is a little kid! Extremely like kids! and love to play with kids! Played until very happy and contented! During one fan sign event, mama fan asked to sign for her daughter’s name, telling HyunJoong it was a chinese name, sign slowly, it is alright. HyunJoong didn’t care much and signed extremely fast! When HyunJoong heard of the word daughter, he eyes suddenly stared widely and gave a shocking expression, making mama fan herself speechless! Guessed he can’t imagine that she already had a daughter.
Mama fan sharing 5: At the last fan sign event, that area was very rural and far, HyunJoong was late for 1.5 hour. Mama fan also had to take about 3 hours train to reach there! He told fans at the venue, as long as holding on Henecia card, can go to his Fried Chicken shop to order 2 sets and above of fried chicken and it is free! At that time, fans around were so touched.
Mama fan sharing 6: In viewable radio, person in the room can hear words and voice from outside. There’s once when HyunJoong was the DJ. During the one day DJ program, he played all of his younger brothers’ song, and didn’t played any of his own songs. He really loves his younger brothers, very diligently to see their performance and work hard to pull up his juniors, he really did his utmost in all these.
Mama fan sharing 7: During that day, the viewable DJ day, HyunJoong continued to use his 4D style and played with fans! The weather was very cold, HyunJoong was in the room, through the glass window, asking fans outside: Are you cold? Fans answered: Not cold! So the 4D kid answered: Than all of you just continue to be cold. Fans don’t know to cry of laugh at his remark. Already got used to this famous 4D Kim Leader~
Mama fan sharing 8: Last time during the eating banana incident, once again proven this alien’s 4D-ness. Normal human behavior after accepting the banana is either not eating it or eating all of it. But he had once again shown his 4D-ness, after eating half of the banana, he gave it back to the fan! Needless to say, that fan was so excited and shocked! Turned around and immediately ate finished that banana! Haha! HyunJoong 4D-ness is famous outer-space and on earth! Human can’t stop his limitless 4D-ness!
Mama fan sharing 9: There’s once went to HyunJoong’s Jaksal shop, who knows HyunJoong and HyunJoong’s mum were also around! HyunJoong’s mum is very beautiful and elegant, and very friendly. Mama fan asked HyunJoong’s mum where is the washroom, his mum put his arm on mama fan’s shoulder friendlily and pointing diligently the way to go. A very friendly mum, don’t put on any airs. Just like her son, this is the model of ‘like mother like son’.
Mama fan sharing 10: HyunJoong is very modest and polite! Always can see him bowing 90 degrees! Whether to senior or to junior! HyunJoong is very fear of strangers, towards new fans, he will not smile! Because he is fear of strangers. But after meeting you a few more time, getting familiar with you, he will start to smile to you. And will talk and tease you. He is a very fun kid.

SS501′s Heo Young Saeng, The 1st Challenge In The “Three Musketeers” Musical
Idol group SS501 main vocalist Heo Young Saeng (26 yrs old) is taking his 1st career challenge in the Musical”Three Musketeers”.
Heo Young Saeng will display his charms as the character of D’Artagnan in the ”Three Musketeers” Musical which will be held at Seongnam Arts Center from 3 Nov to 8 Dec.
Musical ”THREE MUSKETEERS” is depicting about the 17th century as the background. Dreaming of becoming the royal musketeers, the youngsters D’Artagnan and the three musketeers of the french king guard troops Athos, Porthos and Aramis as well as the girlfriend Constance, the story of their adventure, friendship and love. Heo Young Saeng was recommended by 1 of the actor Eom Gi Jun in the musical to form for the “Three Musketeers”.
Together with Eom Gi Jun, Lee Jee Hoon, Kyuhyun(SuJu), Oh Won Bin (Ex-FT) etc acting as the character D’Artagnan, they were chosen by a series of character voting (total 5), with a shoulder of heavy responsibilities, Heo Young Saeng said, ”A song & dance without any modification, wanted to display my acting skills to let the audience feel comfortable and interesting.”
The role of D’Artagnan has a huge proportion of lines, gotta practise singing and also to digest the fencing scene etc, even though the expected process of practising is much more easier now, no matter what the challenge of the musical actor reason is not a singer who has debuted for 7 years but rather the thinking of newbie with a passion that is burning once again. Thus he is always the 1st to reach for his practise and the last to leave so as to concentrate fully practising. Singer Shin Seong-woo (acting as Athos) looking at him in the face and praised him for ”having the right attitude”
Heo Young Saeng said, ”As this is my 1st musical, I have to be more serious than other actors. Shin Seong-woo hyung praised me” and “wanted to create a more pure, clearer and lively character of D’Artagnan. In fact, I believe in D’Artagnan and thru acting to create this charater. But in order to display the songs in the original way of musical stage singing and also to still maintain my own original way of singing, I am still trying to make a balance.”
During the intial stage of practise with SuJu’s Kyuhyun and ex-FTI’s Oh Won Bin, unconsciously giving everyone a feel of the battle between idol groups.
“Having this sub-consciousness, what if I am being elimated by Kyuhyun or Oh Won Bin but now especially we are closer, we will give one another mutual encouragement while watching the monitor.”
“Must have a physically strong body for stage musical, thus usually will prepare carfully all the vitamins and healthy food to maintain stamina. Also at the same time the food support from all the fan clubs really given me a lot of their support and strength.”
“The friendship and adventure of men, and inclusive of when facing with the women they love, it is a musical where all ages will love it. The audience age level can be in accordance how they feel when watching this musical, the 10th generation will develop dreams, 20 ~ 30 generations will have a feeling of cherished love,40 generations will have a feel of missing of friendship. Even though we may have the same scenes, but when watching the other actors interactions on stage, you will be so touched that tears will start falling. Especially at the scene where Athos sing “Three Musketeers, Let’s recall our memories”, warmth will fill our eyes and tears will start forming. If there are alot of people to support for our musical, it would be the best.”

Jang Keun Suk seen filming for “You’re My Pet”
July 27, 2011 9:55 pm pretzyc2h
The scene was this: Eun Ee is on her way back home from work late at night and when she sees In Ho “thrown away” in a box in front of her house, she decides to keep him as her pet. What kind of relationship would they develop? Eventually, romance blossoms between them, as strange as it is. If you want to follow their story, remember that it is released on November!
I’m surprised but happy. However, my main career is actor. My Japanese fans were curious about “You’re My Pet” as well. I’m happy to be able to show them about Korea and my acts.
- It’s an unusual relationship that you develop with Eun Ee who is older than you.
Yes. In Ho is like a puppy which tries all kinds of things in order to earn its owner’s love and affection. (Laughs) Ha Neul and I are acting for romantic comedy. We aren’t forcing comedy into it, but it comes naturally.
- The character In Ho is an expert dancer. Do you have any difficulty in filming some of the dancing scenes?
I am currently practicing a lot. In Ho is an expert dancer but he dreams of acting in a musical. He has bright, easy-going personality, too. I think he and I have many things in common so it is easy for me to act him.
- Since the story is all about love and romance, aren’t there need to shed your clothing sometimes?
Yes, of course. Ha Neul were trilled during the filming of the scene where the owner (Eun Ee) gives her pet (In Ho) a shower. There is a bed scene, too.

Kim Hyun Joong's Winning Moment
Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - June Week 3
by: Soompi.com
Beast's "Fiction" repeats as No. 1 this week on our chart and continues to increase in score. This song has swept nearly all music charts in Korea in the past few weeks. It has actually widened the gap between its closest challengers, which are, as expected from FT Island's "Hello Hello" and Secret's "Starlight Moonlight". "Hello Hello" rises one spot to No. 2 despite dropping in points.
Secret's "Starlight Moonlight" is our highest ranked new song in the top 10 this week, up eight spots from last week's No. 11 to this week's No. 3. The fast rising girl group has switched to a cute image this year with booming success on their five-week No. 1 song "Shy Boy". "Starlight Moonlight" follows the same formula and is eyeing on the top spot.
The other two new entries in the top 10 are both brand new debuts. Members of SS501 are busy with their solo activities recently. Park Jung Min and Heo Young Saeng has already released their solo albums, and now it's Kim Hyun Joong's turn. The sneak preview song "Please" made a cameo appearance on our chart last week. The true title song of the album "Break Down" is the highest debut song on our chart this week at No. 9. "Break Down" already won the top song in Music Bank's K-Chart this week. Expect this song to join the battle for No. 1 very soon.
Perhaps lost in the shadow of all idol groups on the chart, R&B trio 4men made a quiet yet impressive debut into the top 10 with their new song "One Time In Your Life". Last year, this talented singing group had a breakthrough hit "Can't Do". This is 4men's first full length album in five years in which fans has anticipated for a long time. Vibe's Yoon Min Soo continues to be their lead producer. All 13 tracks on the album is already ranked on many internet charts in Korea, proofing once again that good music wins listeners' heart.

THIS WEEK IN 2007:
In this segment we go back in time to re-visit charts of the same week in past years. The Soompi music chart began in January 2005. At first we had only 20 songs and later expanded to 50 songs.
2007 was the year that Wonder Girls and FT Island debuted. It was also the year for singers coming back with success after very long layoffs. Park Jin Young (JYP) and Toy (Yoo Hee Yeol) did that at the end of 2007. Perhaps they were inspired by the success Yangpa had in the middle of that year. After a six-year absence, Yangpa came back in the middle of 2007 with her fifth album "The Window Of My Soul". Hitmaker Park Geun Tae teamed up with Yangpa to produce the title song "Love....What Is That?". Known for her emotional vocals, this song is tailor-made for Yangpa's voice. Soon after its releases, it became No. 1 song on our chart and stayed on top for three weeks.
One of my favorite ballads by a female singer in the last decade, let's revisit the music video of this song: MV

Japanese Media Praise SHINee as the Beatles of Asia
On June 21st, various Japanese media covered the story of SHINee’s explosive popularity in Europe and their “JAPAN DEBUT PREMIUM RECEPTION” in London, England. The popular quintet performed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios on June 19th to celebrate their Japanese debut.
Six Japanese newspapers – “Sports Hochi,” “Chunichi Sports,” “Sankei Sports,” “Sports Nippon,” “Sports Nikkan” and “Daily Sports” – commended the young Hallyu stars and reported SHINee’s tremendous influence and impact in Europe. “Sports Hochi” wrote, “No other music artists had this much influence since the Beatles.”
Very few European fans had the chance to see these boys up close at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where the likes of Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd performed. The opportunity to perform at such a legendary venue is one of SHINee’s greatest achievements, as they are the first Asian artists to perform there. During various interviews over the weekend, the boys of SHINee had stated, “We want to be remembered in history like the Beatles.”
“Chunichi Sports” headlined, “SHINee is Asia’s Beatles, First Asians to Perform Live at the Abbey Road Studios.” It mentioned SHINee’s immense popularity in London and praised their energetic dances and powerful music at the showcase.
Meanwhile, SHINee is busy preparing for their Japanese concerts. They will be touring various cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo. SHINee will also attend the “MTV MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS JAPAN” (VMAJ) this coming Friday, June 22nd.

SHINee Shows Off Their "Replay" Dance Ver. MV
SHINee's dance version music video to their Japanese debut song "Replay" was posted online today.
After a long wait, their Japanese debut single will finally be released this week. The music video for the Japanese version was released late last month.
While it has been three years since they debuted in Korea with the song, the choreography seems to have some minor changes.
For fun, check out a side by side comparison of their original Korean dance version of "Replay" to this one released today. If the videos dont start playing at the same moment, press the 'replay' (lol) button on the left side.

Kim Hyun Joong's Advice to Nuna Fans
Kim Hyun Joong sent a special message to his older female fans during a guerilla interview on Saturday’s KBS “Entertainment Weekly.” He was asked to give a special message to his massive older female fan base, also known as “nuna fans” in Korea, and he responded, “A lot of nuna fans say they want to get married to me, but if they find the right person, I hope they get married soon.”
During the interview, Kim Hyun Joong touched upon a number of different topics. When asked about getting married, he said, “I wanted to get married before 30, but I realized it’s not going to happen any time soon. I thought I would be living as a grown-up, but the older I get I feel like I’m moving away from an adult life.”
He also said the most memorable female partner in his dramas so far was Han Chae Young from KBS “Boys Over Flowers.” But he gave her a rather cute video message saying, “If you’re watching this at home, please invest 500 won ($0.50) in buying my songs.”
Kim Hyun Joong also shared his experience working with Bae Yong Joon, the head of his agency Key East Management. “I think guys talk is pretty obvious. We usually talk about our past girl friends and stuff. I think it’s okay for me to still be single now, but Bae Yong Joong shouldn’t be. He needs to get married soon, and I would like to help him do so.”
Saturday’s guerilla interview took place at the popular Hongik University area. Kim Hyun Joong’s appearance nearly paralyzed the streets as thousands of fans rushed to the scene. It was later revealed the crowd was by far the largest size from this year’s guerilla interviews.
